What's the best choice between spot lining and full lining? Doc Arno tells you all about it.

In this section, we'll look at a question that comes up frequently in requests for quotations: when is it possible to repair a pipe punctually (#chemisageponctuel) and when is it preferable to redo the entire pipe (#chemisagetotal)?

To this end, I've put together a short video explaining the difference between spot lining and full lining, and when to choose one or the other, since it's also up to the professionals to advise you.

I'm going to give you a brief summary of the video so that you understand the ins and outs.

Selective pipe lining consists of repairing a section of pipe, usually 1 m long, but it can also be 2 m or 3 m long, where the pipe is damaged very occasionally.

To do this, we'll apply what we call a SpotRepair Docteur Canalisation (spot repair by lining) which will create a reinforcement on the broken area of the pipe by applying a reinforced resin and a fiberglass or felt liner.

This one-off repair will enable the pipe to be reinforced at points where it is weak, using a highly structuring and very strong resin.

For example, spot repairs will be preferred for swimming pool wall penetrations, or for badly damaged horizontal or vertical sections of pipe, but you have to realize that the same causes produce the same effects.

If your pipe is more than 20 years old, it's a safe bet that the problem is structural, i.e. the whole pipe. In this case, I'd advise you to consider a global repair, even if it's more expensive, as it will save you a lot of money in the long run, since you'll benefit from a full ten-year warranty on the work.

If you add up the cost of a number of individual repairs, you will very quickly exceed the total cost of pipe lining.

So my advice is to repair on the spot when we're faced with an epiphenomenon, i.e. something unforeseen and one-off, but in all other cases I always advise total lining.

At Docteur Canalisation we can offer structural lining structural and spray lining However, we know how to apply both technologies, and we have two different processes: DocteurLiner for liners and Docteur Spray for sprayed liners. We'll use one or the other depending on the type of project, but we can also combine them.
