By preserving the integrity of the pipe, lining is an effective method for restoring damaged pipes or pipes with defects such as roots or faulty joints. This technique involves inserting a textile sheath and resin into the pipe. The sheath adheres to the wall without any gaps, and is then steam-dried. This non-destructive process offers a number of advantages: it can be applied to different types of pipe and forms of damage, costs up to 50% less than trenching, enables several lengths to be treated in a single step, and guarantees excellent long-term average strength (50 years) without any reduction in pipe diameter, excavation, dirt or noise.
A video inspection is essential before starting any work, as it allows us to determine the initial condition of the pipe and establish a precise diagnosis. A preliminary report must be drawn up, including the number of meters to be repaired, the diameter and type of pipe, and the connections. Prior to lining, it is essential to carry out high-pressure cleaning, including milling and hydrocleaning of the pipe. The resin applied under the liner hardens thermally or naturally.
To remove as many of the contaminants and deposits accumulated on the walls as possible, the next step is to impregnate and spray with Docteur Spray or Docteur Liner. This liner is first impregnated with epoxy resin over a specified length during video inspection - whether on site or in the factory. It is then fed into a reversing drum and inserted into the defective pipe using pressurized air or water to conform more easily to the pipe's contours. The flexible liner can even adapt to bends of up to 90° and up to 2 sizes larger.
Once the resin has hardened through polymerization, a new pipe is formed inside the previous one - permanently eliminating any damage. The Docteur Spray method makes it possible to treat seams without the need for a 3D robot. To ensure that the lining is complete and watertight before launching, an additional video inspection is carried out.
