When a pipe in your home is damaged, it can cause a lot of problems.

Fortunately, there are many ways to solve this problem. If a pipe is leaking, many plumbers have turned to pipe lining as a more effective repair technique than traditional methods. Here's some useful information about this type of plumbing repair and why DocteurCanalisation can help you with your pipe-lining problem.

Explanation of pipe lining

Lining plumbing pipes is a process used when a pipe is in poor condition or has defects such as bad joints or tree roots.

This procedure does not simply repair a leak, but is a technique capable of repairing non-pressurized sewage systems in a sustainable way.

Pipe lining involves inserting a liner pre-treated with a solidifying resin (DocteurLiner) into pipes with a diameter of between 40 and 250 mm, or spraying a resin (DocteurSpray) directly onto the pipe walls.

The liner is then placed against the damaged pipe and cured using steam or a UV lamp. This ensures that the pipes remain watertight and can be rebuilt. Once the liner is fully cured, the water pipes can be used again.

For sprays, our DocteurSpray machine sends a pressurized resin through a centrifugal force via a spray head and recreates a channel in the pipe.

Pipe lining is a technique regularly used when pipes are inaccessible, such as for industrial effluent, rainwater, wastewater, etc.

It can also be applied to pressurized pipes using a special drinking water resin.

. Two types of coating can be used. The first is a continuous coating made of felt impregnated with polyester, epoxy or vinylester resin.

The second option is a continuous fiberglass lining impregnated with polyester resin, which generally requires no major work. Pipe lining can be carried out without excavating or dismantling the pipe.

It is imperative to remember that only a trained and experienced company is authorized to implement the pipe lining system. Otherwise, the problem may be even more serious than a minor pipe leak. Pipe lining is a multi-stage process.

How is a pipe liner applied?

Before starting the procedure, it's essential that the specialist performs a thorough cleaning of the damaged pipe. He must also ensure that the water source is turned off. The next step is to examine the damaged parts of the pipes. An endoscopic camera can be used to identify pipe problems.

The purpose of the inspection is to determine the length of pipe to be maintained and to assess its general condition. To apply the coating, the pipe surface must be perfect. For this reason, the professional usually performs a sanding or high-pressure cleaning of the surface. Next, the plumber proceeds to the actual lining. There are two main stages in this process: impregnation and resin polymerization. The plumber applies the resin to the liner that is to be installed against the wall. This liner is then installed in the conduit by inversion or by pulling. Installation is generally carried out through manholes that have been placed in the pipe.

After inserting a sleeve into the pipe, the plumber moves on to the curing stage. This stage is carried out using electrical resistance, steam or hot water circulating through the pipe.
